24th September 2022.
After another late 'n' lazy morning - with the soundtrack of cars practicing on the nearby Sarthe circuit - we ambled off in the general direction of east, looking for the Route National D338 that would take us towards Tours.
That city came up quite quickly, or at least it felt like that to me, and we inadvertently crossed the outer ring road and found ourselves heading towards the city centre. Non! Not having it.
Anyway, as it happens, there's a bright new-looking Lidl just a few hundred metres on that provided us with a convenient turning spot and the opportunity to do a little shopping for lunch, and more.
Fresh baguettes, pain au chocolat, pastilles de nata(!), cheese, fruit, and other goodies found their way to the van and we turned momentarily north once more in search of the correct road.
Soon we were bowling along in the right direction again, and heading along the Vienne valley. French rivers never cease to amaze with their sheer size and volume, making most of ours look puny in comparison.
It was in the valley, just north of Châtellerault, that lunch was finally taken on a thoughtfully-provided bench, while the France Passion book was once again perused with a view to another night on the farm - or whatever presented itself.
As it happens, we've ended up on, of all things, a Bison farm. Not the usual buffalo that you see increasingly, producing milk for mozarella. No, these are the clonking great North American beasties famed in wild-west movies. And no, we haven't seen any yet, but we're assured they're here somewhere. We're not on our own - van wise, unlike last night - as there are three French-registered ones also staying, but there's plenty of room for all.

It's been a wet and dry sort of day. Not cold, and not continually or downpouringly wet, as yet, but as I write there's that big crack of thunder... but also the sun trying to make it's presence felt, so I'm not sure how it's going to go at the mo.
Mileage so far: exactly 500, with only about 70 miles left in the tank. Looks like a call into the local Intermarché is on the cards for a fill-up in the morning.
